Websites are a funny thing. When you’re out on the internet talking to people and interacting and they find out you’re an author, the first thing they ask (after they ask what you write) is “Do you have a website?” It’s almost as if they don’t believe you really are an author if they can’t go to your website and see information about your books.
Having worked with a marketing and internet branding consultant for 15 years (okay, he’s my daughter’s godfather too), I know the value of being able to answer that question with, “Yes, I do. It’s lex valentine dot com.” When that person walks away, all they had to remember was my name. No webs dot com, no wordpress dot com, no livejournal dot com, no weebly or anything at all except… my name.
The internet has a lot of power. To harness that power, people have to find you. Finding you is like finding anything, the shortest, easiest path wins. Your name alone holds the power. The person who asked for your website address might not be able to remember all the other bits of your URL if your website address is on one of those Weebly or Freewebs sites or a free Blogger, Wordpress, or Live Journal site. You stand the best chance of having the person actually get to your website if the site address is easy for them to remember. Your Name. Dot Com.
When those people type your name in the address bar of their browser and they instantly find YOU… that is the key to internet branding. And then there’s that sense of really being an author, being REAL, when you can tell people to go to your site and see your books.
It was my pleasure to create this site for Jason. He has a great future ahead of him in this industry and I love the world he’s built with Edge and Jack in the Dark Robe stories. I’m happy to announce that yes, Jason, now you are real!

Nice intro and nice website!
I’m very pleased and tickled that you have the interview you did at THe Sweet Flag listed.
May you have many more!!
And many more reasons to crow!
Wow! Really nice website and you are so right, the first thing they ask is what’s the link to your site. I always thought it was funny how much weight is put on the quality of the website before people even read one of your stories. I suppose they figure if you have a cookie cutter site then your writing will be dull and uninspired too.
Great post and beautiful site
Congratulations on the new website Jason. Having your own site really does announce your presence on the ‘net and it’s wonderful that you’ve now “arrived” so to speak.
Although I do have all your books to date, so I know that you’d arrived before. And now I’m going to slink off and do some re-reading.
And Lex, you continually amaze me; multi-mulit-talented and so very nice too!
Congrats on the new website Jason, and tks to Lex for talking you up where a hermit like me would see it…she’ll drag me out of my cave yet!! Looking forward to reading your books Jason. Lex, you rock!

Jason, thanks for having us here on your site! It’s wonderful, very classy!
Nice to meet you, by the way!
Lex, your blog was great, so is your design!
Best wishes, Jason, in your writing! I know you’re going to enjoy your new website!
Beautiful site, Jason! Congratulations on it!
Lex, you did an amazing job. You couldn’t be more right on the value of a website. As someone not at all tech savvy, I didn’t realize how important it was until I became published. Now it’s so nice to be able to refer people to it.
And Jason, here’s wishing you endless inspiration and much future success! Congrats again on the new site.
Jason and Lex,
Great blogs and love the website! Now…MORE STORIES!!!
Hehe:)
Happy Birthday, Jason!
Well, Jason … well, Lex … playing at Dynamic Duo again, I see! With great results!
Thanks for the kudos everyone! I know Jason is excited to have this day finally arrive. And William, you should know from experience that I cannot resist an MLR Press man. *wink*

Hello Jason (and Lex!)
I like the look of the new site and am delighted to see there is something in the “Coming Under” zone (why yes, I do already have the other stories!).
Cheers
Thank you!
Hi, William! Thank you. Lex did an amazing job. It’s just beautiful.
